About

I never expected my career path to shift from planning classroom lessons to plotting flight paths, but here I am—loving every second of it. My first steps were in higher education, where I taught ESL graduate students and immersed myself in research on human learning theories and applications. Yet, somewhere between grading papers and brainstorming with faculty, I caught the aviation bug. One weekend, I hopped into a small plane, and that spark quickly turned into a full-blown passion.

Before I knew it, I was sitting in a Part 61 flight school in a small town, working toward my ratings and eventually teaching others to fly. Juggling lessons with my own training and a full-time job was a rush, but the unwavering support from my wife, kids, and extended family, my students’ enthusiasm, as well as my supportive colleagues made it all worthwhile. Their faith in me helped me land a position at a regional airline, where I found a community of peers, mentors, and eventually friends who share my love for the sky.

On days when I’m not working a flight, you’ll find me elbow-deep in a house project, working on my garden with my kids, or simply soaking in family time. There’s nothing like going from 35,000 feet above ground to getting my hands dirty in the garden—it reminds me that life is equal parts adventure and everyday magic. This blog is my space to record both the excitement of a new approach or a perfect landing and the grounded joys of raising a family with my better half, one do-it-yourself project at a time. I hope you’ll follow along for the ups, downs, and in-betweens of this wild, wonderful life in the air and at home.
